If you live in the west-end of Toronto and have small children, chances are you have already heard of Macklem’s. If not, let me give you a run down of this amazing family owned store.
Located in Roncesvalles village (2223 Dundas St. W., Toronto, ON M6R 1X6), Macklem’s first opened 76 years ago in 1945! That in itself is a reason to celebrate this shop. It has recently undergone renovations and is looking top notch. Better yet, they have launched a new website which includes the option to shop online. This is a big win for busy parents who might not be able to get to the store in person. I know I spent many a late night buying baby supplies online while feeding my babies or pumping!
Keep reading to find out the x reasons why Macklem’s is a great option when buying baby gear and supplies.
Being a family owned business, they have had some of the same employees for years. I have lived in the neighbourhood for close to 10 years and everytime I go there, I see the same familiar friendly faces. Not only are the staff friendly and welcoming, they are extremely knowledgeable about all things baby gear. Whether you are looking for a stroller, or car seat or even just some feeding or sleeping gear, the staff at Macklem’s are always there to answer your questions and provide you with the kind of service that keeps you going back.
While the store itself may be on the small side, don’t let this make you think their selection is limited. They carry the top brands of strollers and carseats including: Uppa Baby, Nuna, Peg Perego, Maxi Cosi, Baby Jogger and more. Looking for a crib or nursery furniture? Macklem’s has it! They even carry the super handy mini crib by Babyletto. I personally used this crib for my children when we still room shared and it was awesome!
You can basically furnish your whole nursery here and buy all the accessories you need, including bedding and decor. In addition to all this great gear and furniture, they have a great selection of feeding and bathing supplies and even have a great little section filled with toys and books for your baby and toddler.
In addition to the excellent product selection, you can also create your baby gift registry here! Gift-registries are very handy if you plan on having a baby shower or just want to be able to share with your friends and family which products you’d like to have for your baby. If you have some big ticket items, such as a stroller or car seat that you’d like, your friends and family can join together to help purchase these for you.
As you will come to find, once you have your baby, there are not many services in toronto that can clean or repair your strollers. Macklem’s stroller repairman has been fixing strollers since 1963! Pricing will vary depending on the repair needed, but they offer free estimates on all repairs. All you need to do is drop your stroller off at the store and they will get to work.
Stroller cleaning is also a huge bonus. I mean who has time for that?! Save yourself the headache and bring your stroller to Macklem’s to be professionally cleaned. Prices rage from $75 for a single umbrella stroller to $95 for a single full size or jogging stroller. For double strollers, prices range from $125-$150. Check our their repair page for more info. (Please note these are the prices at the time this blog was published and are subject to change. Check the store for up to date pricing).
If you’re in the GTA and looking for a store for all of your baby needs, I hope you will take the time to visit this store in person or checkout their products online. I promise, you won’t be disappointed!
